Audi S-Tronic 7 Speed DSG TransmissionAudi S-Tronic 7 Speed DSG Transmission.
This Post will go through the procedure to remove the S-Tronic 7 speed Transmission Mechatronic unit/ Valve Body.
This goes along with the Audi TSB Bulletin # SB-10054213-2278
This Repair requires you to handle sensitive electronic components remember proper grounding and Static Electricity Discharge.
The information in this Post is meant to be informative and not intended to be used and a repair guide. it is always best to follow manufactures recommendations and repair procedures.
The first Step is getting the Vehicle up on jack stands or a lift. you will need at least 2 feet of ground clearance from the bottom of the transmission oil pan.
Because we recently did a trans fluid and filter service on this customers vehicle we used an new drain pan to reuse the Liqi Molly fluid. ( you will need approximately 2-3 Liters of new fluid )
Next, the skid plates and X brace are removed. Drain the DSG oil into a pan, Then remove the pan. ( Recommended NOT to reuse pan gasket )
Disconnect The wiring harness connector that goes from the Bottom of the Mechatronics unit, Take the two screws out that hold the harness up to the case. ( this gives more room to drop the Unit out. )
Next The DSG cooler/ exterior filter if equipped is removed. remove the bolt holding the lines to the housing then remove the three bolts holding the cooler/ filter to the case.
Pull the plastic housing out of the DSG case, you will have to pull the cooler lines up and out at the same time.
Disconnect the Main harness going into the transmission, then remove the bolt holding the seal on to the DSG case.
Rotate the connector Counter clockwise this will allow you to remove the pass-through seal for the main connector.
Loosen the 6 Bolts that hold the Mechatronic unit in the case. Do not remove them yet as you don’t want it to fall out.
CAUTION MUST BE TAKEN WHEN PERFORMING THIS STEP!!!!! MAKE SURE YOU IDENTIFY THE 6 AND ONLY 6 BOLTS THAT ARE TO BE REMOVED….. IF YOU LOSEN OR REMOVE THE WRONG BOLTS YOU RUN THE RISK OF DAMAGING THE UNIT!!!!!!
Lower the Unit out be sure to use a clean surface.
Disconnect The Two Connectors that are between the vertical shift solenoids and the Mechatronic control board
then remove the screws holding the wiring harnesses in place and remove
